Here is a PSA you will see me repeat a bunch because it’s important re: privacy.
The link THEY want us to share will always end with a series of “random” numbers and letters and such. Those are actually a map to things like our location, what social media apps we are logged into using this same device, where we GOT the link, where we SHARED the link, and whose-else clicks of that link mean we are “known associates” of one another.
That last part is especially creepy when it comes to things like someone being arrested for exercising free speech and they want to try and round up/detain others with similar values. These sorts of trackers help Big Data know all about us in ways we may have even declined consent about, in TOS. It’s how they’re working around our ability to opt out of being tracked.
So.
Here’s the original version of a link followed by the version that cuts OFF all the data-tracking info.
Make it a habit to delete links back to the end of the ACTUAL link (vs. the version that adds on all the info).
