I have a question about voiceover work. I’m constantly told I have a great voice and I want to know how to get started. Could you recommend classes? Also, are there coaches that work with actors on dialects? What about looping? What’s the best way to get involved with ADR?
Great timing! I recently have been in contact with a couple of pros from the voiceover, ADR, looping world and have been working up the material in order to deliver a “scoop-filled” column on this area of the industry. I’ll be putting the finishing touches on that piece here in the next couple of weeks, so I’ll ask that you, my wonderful readers, send along some email if you have any voice-specific questions for me to tackle (or insider info to share).
In fact, I’ve also been asked to do an article on the pros and cons of actors doing reality shows. So, for any of you who has done a reality show before, during, or after pursuing a career in acting, drop me a line about that topic as well. I know this will be a controversial topic, but I’m eager to learn whether any industry perception issues can be overcome (I mean, it may be 13 years later, but heck, Heather B from the first season of MTV’s The Real World is now selling us virus protection from AOL).
As always, questions and suggestions of any kind are welcomed! Just wanted to be sure to request your thoughts on these two upcoming topics as I continue to develop the columns.
Thanks for writing!
