So, so, so much work to do. So many white people to educate about privilege and how it can blind you to your own humanity and the rights you take for granted. But soon we will work on healing and education from a place of SUPPORT rather than divisiveness.
From a place of coming together and asking the hard questions and listening and NOT from a place of being subjected to daily panic and fear and worry and all the emotions that shut down the brain’s ability to problem-solve CREATIVELY and COLLABORATIVELY. 🌟
I’m exhaling in a way I haven’t in years, it feels, and I know there’s so much as Americans we don’t agree on, and yet we can do the work to come together when our leadership is supportive of that work, not pitting us against one another in his own self-interest. Not selling off our democracy and our stability to the highest bidders.
We’re gonna have a rough few months of transition and early awareness of exactly how much damage 45 and his minions have done, but I pray we can come back from the dark place he tried to take us. 💕
I know Biden is not ideal. But as I imagine his cabinet and his press conferences (as rambly as they may be) and his leadership as a whole, I exhale.
Kamala is going to change our lives in magical ways.
Stacey Abrams and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and so many WOMEN and specifically WOMEN OF COLOR are shifting into more and more roles of leadership that allow for coming together and healing.
I BELIEVE.
And it’s going to be a fucking lot of work.
Social justice. Environment. Economy. Health care from within the clutches of the pandemic. And soon with leadership that knows the facts, the data, the science… and leadership that respects the power of their office, and the promises they’re bound to keep for a better America FOR EVERYONE. 💙 🎉
Hang in there for this bumpy transition. There will be turbulence. It will be gut-wrenching to witness what 45 does to our country in these next 10 weeks.
But we will be able to start the work of repairing and healing soon. It has, on many levels, already begun. 🧘🏽♀️
