In today’s update, here’s what we’ve got:

~ Pluto is about to do something he hasn’t done since 1953. 😮 Let’s get into what it means and the rabbit 🕳 hole you might choose to go down from there.

~ The podcast 🎙 we launched as a fun little “let’s see what happens” experiment now has 18 dang episodes. 👯 WHUT?!? Got any requests for MELISSA HAS QUESTIONS? Because we don’t plan on stopping anytime soon.

~ My monthly demo/work-along for color-coding the 📆 calendar is coming up on Friday! 💙🖤🧡💗💜💚 This is the last Use Your Moons sesh ’til after eclipse season (GAH!) so I hope you’ll join in the fun! So. About Pluto.

Wait.

First, about this THING that he’s about to do. Let’s start there. Because it doesn’t just happen with Pluto. It also happens with Uranus, Jupiter, Mars, Venus, Mercury… and it happens A LOT with our li’l Moon! It’s going OUT-OF-BOUNDS.

Out-of-bounds is a status granted to planets whose declination shifts above or below a range of tolerance that’s considered a “normal” amount of wobbling. Declination is a way of measuring where the planet is in relationship to the celestial equator. At the magic number of 23º27′ (positive or negative/north or south), a heavenly body is declared OOB! NOTE: This degree measurement is NOT the same thing as the degrees you see in your chart (more on that in ep. 17 of MELISSA HAS QUESTIONS).

Okay, so… we can be born with planets out-of-bounds. We can also experience natal planets going OOB by progression throughout our lives. And we can all experience planets going OOB the same way we experience planets going retrograde now and then.

An important FORMULA to remember for Chart Harmony:

The planet is the what, the sign is the how, and the house is where it all shows up in your life.

Where RETROGRADE has us go back and revisit, reinterpret, repair, reset things that are specific to that particular planet’s WHAT, OUT-OF-BOUNDS has us experience the planet’s WHAT as if it has lost its rulebook.

The out-of-bounds Moon doesn’t know how to feel safe, isn’t sure how to get her needs met, lacks reference for what nurturing even feels like. The OOB Mercury may struggle with words, might present as neurodivergence, could help you pull off genius level language skills seemingly from out of nowhere. During periods of a planet’s OOB status, we may find ourselves feeling out of sorts about whatever that planet’s WHAT is. (And wouldn’t it be nice to know WHY that’s happening? Of course!)

But first, the big deal with Pluto in particular…

Pluto is going out-of-bounds at the end of August for the first time since 1953. AND, he’ll go OOB every year for a decade… and then not again for another 64 years! That means this upcoming Pluto out-of-bounds period is going to show us how Pluto (the planet of transformation, of generational mission, of burn-it-to-the-ground-and-start-over) works when there are no rules.

Yeah.

That tracks.

So.

Back to what I said about how nice it is to know when planets are headed out-of-bounds so we can be ready (like many folks are with retrogrades, at this point).
