I don’t remember building my first vision board but I do remember coming across it months later, stuffed in some corner of my teenage closet. I was SHOCKED. Because not only had I manifested the guitar and the word processor and the hot rollers I had put on that vision board, I actually had the exact guitar, the exact word processor, and the exact hot rollers I had USED on the vision board.

In case this was an indicator of how SPECIFIC this vision board thing was gonna go for me, I got out my supplies and replaced the cute car I had put on that old vision board with the exact car I wanted (once I was old enough… and had a driver’s license, of course).

I also took that vision board OUT of the closet and gave it a place of honor amongst the teen heartthrob posters on the wall.

From that point forward, I turned doing my vision board into something way more serious. But still fun. (Because, OMG, if it’s not fun, why are we doing it??) Over time, it became a ritual I treasured. And eventually, I started clustering things on my vision board in a way that made sense in a really deep way. I couldn’t put my finger on it at the time. But eventually, it clicked. I realized what I was doing.
