Who Inspires Sarah Beth Goer? Emmeline Miles!

Last November, I put out a call for awesomeosity and y’all came through with flying colors. Thank you! This was such an inspiring year-end series that I decided to continue to share one “who inspires you” segment each month in Your Turn. To nominate someone for March or beyond, hit me up at the address at the bottom of each week’s column. For February’s installment, here’s who inspires Sarah Beth Goer:

  • Who you are (your name, link to your site of choice for promo): Sarah Beth Goer (resumes.actorsaccess.com/sarahbethgoer).
  • Who you’re nominating for their awesomeosity: Emmeline Miles.
  • What they’ve been doing with their career strides and why we should take notice (why they inspire you so): Emmeline is a musician, but what she has been doing for her career could inspire any type of artist to follow his/her dream. Her commitment to both the business and craft of her career is staggering. Four years ago, she hadn’t admitted, even to her closest friends, that her secret dream was become a singer/songwriter. However, she had surreptitiously been writing songs since she was twelve, becoming proficient in piano and guitar, and honing her writing skills. Our senior year of college, she hesitantly began to share her songs with a small circle of close friends. By the end of the year, she took a courageous leap and gave her first public performance. After that, she headed back to her hometown of Dallas and began performing at every open mic she could possibly get to. There’s not a day that goes by that she doesn’t take action to move her career forward. She now has regular paying gigs, radio airplay, and a solid fanbase — all direct consequences of not only her talent, but of her commitment and her passion. She recently produced her first CD, which got rave reviews. And all throughout, she has remained one of the most humble, patient, generous, loving people I’ve ever met.
