Craving

I have a craving.

It’s for something I haven’t had in YEARS.

And considering I gave up fast food for 2006 (yes, it’s true… not even a case of the hangover hungries can send me to the drive-thru this year), this craving is pretty intense.

If I don’t blog again today, you can safely assume the black and white shake (86 the whipped cream–that’s nasty) and chili cheese fries with diced onions from Johnny Rockets have, in fact, killed me.

Can you really consider Johnny Rockets fast food? And did you know, the one on Roswell Road that Ron use to work at is now closed?

Ron *and* Avi! That was a big fave of Bon-ex-boyfriends. 😉
And I thank you for enabling my success in this “fast food boycott” by declaring Johnny Rockets NOT fast food.
Keith, however, says it IS fast food by virtue of the fact that it has a deep fryer. Pff. Whatevs.

Am I a nutcase for NEVER trying Johnny Rockets? I’ve seen the place – just never made it in. And now that I’ve decided to go back to my LOW carb diet – it may be a while until I head in that direction! 🙁 sounds good though…

yum, the idea of a cheeseburger, fries, and shake always appeals to me, but my stomach regrets the shake afterwards. Damn thee, lactose intolerance!

Never heard of it, but I’m now dying for it! Is it anything like Steak n Shake?

Oh, Courtney, it is sooooo like Steak-n-Shake. Now, while Steak-n-Shake has the skinny fries and amazing Oreo Shake, Johnny Rockets has kick-ass chili cheese fries and black and white shakes that will rock your world.
    Definitely, you should consume both.
    It’s just that simple.

Keith is wrong. Any place where you sit at a table or counter, order, and they bring it to you on real dishes (and sing New York, New York when they do) is not fast food. Also, no drive thru, you can’t easily eat those fries out of a paper bag while driving, and not listed as a fast food place on fastfoodsource.com. Besides, the English pub down the road has a deep fryer for the fish and chips, and trust me – nothing ‘fast’ about that place at all.

    *snork*
I was using the “no drive-thru” as the guideline, so that works. I claim success in my 2006 fast food boycot AND I had a yummy shake and greasy chili fries. Yummmmmm.
I’m still workin’ those calories off. Hee!

AAACK!!! They are closing the one in Beverly Hills, too (on “Little” Santa Monica) What’s THAT about??
I LOOOOOOOOOOVE Johnny Rockets. Of course, since I am ALLERGIC to both WHEAT AND DAIRY it is not a wise choice. However….every once in a while, I ply myself with Allegra and “cheat”. (sometimes to my regret — but it was FANTASTIC while it lasted, ya’know?)
It is DEFINITELY not FAST FOOD. First of all — especially on a crowded night — it is NOT FAST. Secondly, I agree about the “no-drive’thru” ruling. THIRDLY — you can’t EAT it fast, because it is huge, Huge, HUGE!! 🙂
Every once in a great while, we must all cheat and have a Johnny Rocket’s. The one now nearest me is at The Grove.
GO FOR IT!!! You’ll make up for it elsewhere.

Oh, Lydia, it’s way yummy. I think you could do it low carb just by having a piece of burger or chicken from their great sandwiches (which I can’t have due to the whole gluten intolerance thing) but I don’t know that you’d be satisfied unless you were going in and having a real splurge of “bad” foods. Yum! I have no regrets from my Sunday splurge!

Can you take something? I don’t know much about lactose intolerance, just that I see commercials for the Lactaid stuffs. Still, I sure understand the un-fun that is a dietary “episode” of any kind. Totally.

So, didja? You know I love you, woman, and I wouldn’t want to MAKE you go off your diet, but if you’re gonna do it… ya gotta do it RIGHT. 😉 Hee! Good luck with the last bits of packing!

All excellent points. I maintain my success as a non-fast food eater for 2006! 😉
