Over at our loving little Chart Harmony Discord, I get asked questions. Recently, the conversation turned to the ways in which astrology plays into the transgender experience, transphobia and bigotry, and feeling safe along the courageous journey our trans friends must navigate. Specifically, we started looking under the hood of these bizarre folks who get SO tweaked about all this when it has NOTHING to do with them.

First, if you’ve made your way to this post feeling as though you are not understood, loved, or even tolerated, please accept my unconditionally-offered {{{hugs}}}. Consider me a part of your Circle of Safety, should you need my allyship in any way. You are safe with me. I swear that my big-ass, protective, Cancer-stellium claw will fight to keep you safe.

I remember in the early ’90s sitting at the table with my brother’s family and our mom while he boasted about having “won” his fight at work to block a transgender woman (NOT the phrase he used to identify them, of course) from using the ladies room at the office.

My brother had always been my hero. And at this moment — as he seemed oddly and overly PROUD for having made this person feel LESS safe than she certainly must’ve already felt in that hostile environment — I knew there was something very, very, very wrong with my Boomer brother.

I know now, of course, the myriad ways his cis/straight white supremacy/privilege shows up AND I can now see where he fits in the bigger picture of this part of the low-empathy population that I have no better an understanding of than I did ~35 years ago.

One of the best astrological reasons for this disposition I’ve tracked is about how Boomers are of the Leo Pluto generation, and that FIXEDNESS is a generational signature for feeling threatened by change (as well as the Leo of it all = the self-centeredness/narcissism/gaslighting of all experiences that aren’t identical to theirs that we see with some members of this generation too). THAT, for me, helps anchor/explain some of the disproportional energy of “this thing you are doing impacts ME” these folks spew, re: issues that don’t impact them AT ALL.

I share this because looking at this very real threat some folks at our Discord and my stepkid and so many others we know and love are experiencing ASTROLOGICALLY helps me feel a little less unmoored by it all. I feel like I can wrap my head around at least some of what creates this hateful, narrow-minded disposition.

Re: the gaslighting part — one of the biggest a-has I had with this same brother happened in 2018 when we were at our father’s 85th b’day party. I realized there that the abuse he heaped on me for my life choices is exactly the abuse he has spent a lifetime heaping on himself to prevent himself from going out and living his dreams. That it spills out onto others is a sad reality of that Pluto-in-Leo thing too.

I’m not saying any of this helps me UNDERSTAND, logistically, how we get to where we are with all of this; but it does help me GET the astrological — and trauma-informed — source of their setpoint for so much hate, fear of what they don’t understand, and unwillingness to love even their own family members should they DARE to defy what dominant culture says is normal.

All this to say, if you ever have a piece of info you think would be helpful to me OR FOR ME TO AMPLIFY, please get it to me. (Like this!) I’m not shy about my stance on… well… on anything, really. I’m pretty freakin’ transparent. It’s MY setpoint and if I’ve got this cis/straight white supremacy/privilege just because of the way I was born, you’d better believe I’m gonna use it to transform this damn system into one that better aligns with my values.

Anyway, lemmeknow what more I can do, should there be anything you see as being something I can help in any kind of way. I may not be at the stage of my life where I take to the streets in protest anymore, but I sure as shit know how to make a disruption (HAI, Uranus and Jupiter both with the Moon and my ASC in a loud loud loud Air sign 1st house) with the energy and access I’ve got!
