Hello beautiful people of Expansive Capacity! Hello lovely leaders!

We’re back in action for Superpower Sunday! 🙂

This is all about how we can implement wee changes that may turbocharge our *existing* superpowers so that we don’t dim our own lights due to inertia, stress, or any other upper-limit problem that reveals itself along our path.

This month’s Superpower Sunday is a peptalk about the importance of being a lighthouse (not a liferaft).

As we wrap up Your Relationship with Leadership, I wanted to underscore the importance of leadership that looks more like something that stands alone, strong, shining your light for the world to see (and be guided by) than like flinging yourself deep into the drama triangle, potentially having your strength diminished by the expenditure of energy coming at you from someone grasping at you for dear life.

I know you’ve heard this before, but it’s worth sharing again. Please take a moment to (re-)listen and take it in.

Remember, leadership is when you learn that you can demonstrate the solution without BEING the solution. This distinction is everything.

It may feel yummy to the ego to BE a solution for someone. To BE their hero. To get all sorts of love and praise for having rescued them.

But it puts you in a really precarious relationship with the person for whom you’re a leader, with other people who could’ve benefited from your leadership, and with yourself.

Let the ego trust that role modeling leadership qualities is ENOUGH. Because it’s a display of low enoughness when we go into hero mode. Instead, shine your light and be still, knowing that someone learning from witnessing your leadership what it is that THEY are capable of — and then rescuing themselves — is far more valuable for them (and more sustainable for you).

Share your thoughts with me on this, my lovely leaders! Comments remain open in the dojo as we head into March for our first-ever revisiting of a topic: Your Relationship with Money. Woo HOO!

Reminder: Your March Aligned Hustle Calendar is at the Welcome page if you haven’t already grabbed it. Mercury is still in retrograde but I know you’re weathering it all with glorious grace!

So much love flowing your way!

I’m learning this lesson big time as a parent. So many times I want to save myself agony and time of having to explain something but when I don’t, I do the the disservice of learning for themselves. Perfect example is how I smile to myself when my kids come back ‘safely’ from the store. If I hadn’t taken the time to do the lessons etc. etc. WE wouldn’t have the convenience of having another driver in the house. I just need to remind myself of this in every relationship. Yes, boundaries feel painful, uncomfortable…but once they’re established, other things can grow.

Yesssssssssss. I love the driving example. Perfect! I was a Montessori educated kiddo and one of their biggies is “Never do for the child what she can reasonably do for herself.” I love SO MUCH the notion that there’s a ton of learning available when we allow the doing to happen, however clunkily it may be done at first. 😉
