Super quick, because I’ve got stuff to do and the energy to do it… so I’m going to do it now… I have two things to share with you.
1. Anything you are stopping yourself from doing — practicing your self-taping skills as a part of Self tApril in our SMFA Facebook group, finishing your script and getting it submitted to contests, posting #SoOnBrand content on social media — because you fear “looking stupid” or you’re nervous about “getting it right” or any other perfectionist-adjacent self-talk, um, here’s the motivation you need:
You will never have a SMALLER audience than you have today. You will never have a COLDER audience than you have today. The stakes are officially the LOWEST they will ever be. Today.
So whatever it is you’re hoping you’ll get better at BEFORE putting it out there in front of other people, do the damn thing. Do it now. You get better at it by doing it. Do it now while the stakes are so dang low.
2. I’ve shared a little peptalk with you at YouTube and at Instagram (pick your favorite) if you’re the type of person who tends to hold your own JOY hostage from yourself. Y’know, stuff like, “I’ll be happy WHEN…” and then there’s always something you’re waiting for, some condition, some requirement that has to be met before you’ll allow yourself to choose to feel joy in your life, right now.
The brain is TRAINABLE. When we train it to love conditionally, to only be happy when specific conditions are met, we set ourselves up for a lifetime of postponing joy, waiting for the X Y Z to show up and finally allow ourselves a sliver of happiness… and nothing’s ever gonna be good enough when we’ve created this as our setpoint.
Choose joy now.
No, it’s not EVERYwhere we look, but it’s also not NOwhere we look, y’know? Just look for it. Joy is there. It’s HERE. It’s in you. Right now.
